As we ready for Town Meeting on May 16, 2023, the Town will be presenting information every day on different warrant articles.

Article 8: Acceptance of Massachusetts General Law Chapter 59 Section 5, Clause 5c1/2.

Passage of this local option at Town Meeting would allow the Town to increase the property tax exemption amounts by up to twice the current allowed limit.  For example the legally blind tax exemption amount would increase from $500 per year to $1000 per year.  This increase would be paid for by the Town in the tax overlay account.  Accepting this article at 100% would cost the Town approximately $75,000 per year in exemptions.
