1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is a reading incentive program for children ages birth to 5 years. Visit the Children’s Room to get more information about 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten and to meet the librarians.  If you read just 3 books a day you will reach the 1,000 books goal in one year!  If you read 1 book a day, you will reach the goal in three years! The simple and enjoyable act of sharing books helps a child learn pre-reading skills such as understanding the sounds letters make, developing a bigger vocabulary, and building background knowledge — all important skills that help prepare a child for learning to read and entering kindergarten.  Children get to place a sticker on the wall for every 100 books read!   Registration is always open for anyone that would like to sign up.

CURBSIDE CHRISTMAS TREE COLLECTION will begin WEDNESDAY, JAN 2. The Town’s DPW truck will be coming by one day each week to collect trees. This service will END FRIDAY, JAN 18. Place your tree curbside on the Sunday of each week to be sure you won’t be missed.

Please make sure that all of your decorations are removed, including the stand. (Don’t forget any lights, wires, screws or any other hazards).  Trees with hazards will be left at the curb for you to dispose of.  Also, remember to keep your tree freed from the snow.
Please note that this is for trees ONLY, the DPW cannot chip Christmas wreaths or garland.
