October 23rd is the National Day of Remembrance of 1983 Beirut Bombing

The Marine Barracks in Beirut, Lebanon were bombed 37 years ago today. 241 members of the United States Armed Forces – 220 Marines, 18 Navy Sailors, 3 Army Soldiers – along with 58 French Peacekeepers & 3 civilians died. 9 of those lost were from Massachusetts, 1 was from North Andover.
North Andover’s own Cpl. Sean Gallagher was among those killed on October 23, 1983. He was one week shy of his 21st birthday. Please join us as we remember Cpl. Sean Gallagher and the others lost on this day. We honor their sacrifice and that of their families.
