A Message from Town Moderator Mark DiSalvo regarding Proposed Municipal Legislation, Bill H.2572

I have seen and heard many questions about postponement of town elections and town meeting.   As a leader in the Massachusetts Moderators Association I have been helping to write this bill for the past week, filed yesterday by the Governor, and presented to the legislature today in informal session. It can be linked here and is attached below.  In lieu of a public hearing, the Joint Committee on Municipalities and Regional Government (Diana DiZoglio is the Senate Vice Chair, Christina Minicucci and Tram Nguyen are both House members of the committee) is soliciting public input on the bill, H.4572.  They request comments be limited to urgent priorities related to the topic in this bill. There will be additional processes or opportunities for more wide-ranging comments about challenges facing municipalities in the coming days.

Please email your comments to House Chair Rep. James O'Day at james.oday@mahouse.gov and Senate Chair Sen. Becca Rausch at becca.rausch@masenate.gov no later than noon on Thursday, March 19, 2020 or reach out to your local delegation members.

Business Impact Survey

Dear North Andover Business Community:

The Town of North Andover is actively working as part of the “Small Business Coalition,” which is a working group of state, regional, and local organizations and leaders collaborating to support the business ecosystem in the Merrimack Valley and beyond. As the Coronavirus continues to unfold, our ability to maintain a strong feedback loop with businesses as we develop responses is vital to making sure resources are well aligned with needs.

Please take 5 minutes to help us better understand the needs as you are experiencing them and ideas for coordinated solution making that could be helpful.  Also, please feel free to share this survey with others in your network as we gather as much information as possible.
