North Andover, MA (30,000+ pop.) is seeking a proactive, innovative, energetic and experienced leader to serve as its next Town Manager to replace a seven year incumbent. The Town of North Andover adopted a strong Town Manager/Board of Selectmen/Open Town Meeting form of governance in 1986. This financially stable community is recognized as one of the most attractive and desirable communities in the Merrimack Valley to live, work and raise a family. The Town is conveniently located along Route 495 with easy access to train service and has a local regional airport within its boundaries. North Andover has a rich history and a strong commitment to preserving its historical heritage, while providing the highest level of municipal services to its residents. This beautiful, semi-rural community is just 24 miles from the world-class medical, educational, and cultural assets of Boston. It also borders four towns and three cities geographically. The Town has an excellent school system and is a host to Merrimack College as well as Brooks School. The Town Manager will oversee a proposed FY 2020 operating budget of approximately $100+/- million dollars including the local public schools and will be directly responsible for 211 FTEs.
The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in a related field and a minimum of seven years of experience in public administration, with a minimum of five years served in a senior management capacity or an equivalent combination of education and relevant management experience. The Town offers a base starting salary of $190,000 in addition to a competitive benefits package commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience.
