A Letter from the North Andover Sustainability Committee

To our fellow citizens:

With regard to the COVID-19 global pandemic, the members of the Sustainability Committee recognize the hardships many small business owners, workers and residents will endure in the coming months.

We have worked long and hard on our recommendation to implement a single-use plastic bag ban in North Andover. We believe wholeheartedly in this endeavor. With community support and participation, we can and we will take steps to positively impact the future of our planet.

Our committee is sensitive to what the future may hold for our North Andover citizens. We respect and honor the well-being of each individual and stability of each business. Furthermore, it is of utmost importance for all of us to have a fair opportunity to vote on this initiative.

During this unprecedented time of uncertainty, and after much consideration and thoughtful discussion, we are choosing to postpone the Plastic Bag Ban recommendation until 2021. We hope you will follow our lead in the coming months as we continue to campaign and provide important information and updated research as to how we can positively impact the future of our planet and our community.

Wishing you all the best in health and prosperity,

The North Andover Sustainability Committee
