Straw Poll Results

Please find linked the comparative results of the straw poll of citizens and the actual results of the deliberative Annual Town Meeting on May 17, 2022.

One Hundred and Twenty North Andover voters took part in the survey and 1420 attended the Town Meeting. The initiative was conducted in preparation for the possibility of future virtual town meetings where remote voting would need to take place, or providing access to those who cannot participate at the meeting for good reason, such as disability or military service, but choose to be part of Town Meeting deliberations.

Thank you to all who participated.

Hydrant Flushing

The Town of North Andover Department of Public Works will resume hydrant flushing starting on May 23, 2022 and continuing over the next several months.  Hydrant flushing is part of the water system’s preventative maintenance program. Flushing helps to remove naturally occurring sediment from the distribution system which assists in maintaining water quality and clarity. Flushing also allows the Department of Public Works to test the hydrants for adequate flow and pressure, identify leaks in the distribution system and inspect gate valves. While most of the sediment is flushed from the pipes, a small amount will remain suspended in the water and may cause temporary discoloration of the water. When this occurs, residents are asked to run cold water at faucets and outside spigots to help alleviate the problem.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding hydrant flushing, please call North Andover Public Works at (978) 685-0950.

Town Meeting Warrant Article of the Day – Article 27: Amend Zoning Bylaw – By adding Part 13 Inclusionary Housing Requirement

As we ready for Town Meeting, the Town will be presenting information every day on different warrant articles.

Article 27: Amend Zoning Bylaw – By adding Part 13 Inclusionary Housing Requirement

An Inclusionary Zoning Bylaw is one of many tools that a community uses to develop and maintain affordable housing units that are eligible to be included on the Town’s Subsidized Housing Inventory required by the state.

Any proposed project that included more than 7 rental or ownership housing units on a parcel or contiguous parcel shall include at least 15 percent of the total housing units as affordable units on the same site, at a different site or pay a fee toward affordable housing.

This bylaw aims to require production of high-quality dwelling units affordable to low- or moderate-income households.
