Storm Update: January 26, 2026

As we enter into the evening, snow is continuing to fall across North Andover and the surrounding area.  Additional accumulation is anticipated through this evening, with several more inches possible. Some roadways remain slippery as crews continue to work to treat and clear streets.  As a reminder, do not snow-blow or shovel snow Into the roadway.
The snow emergency parking ban has been extended until 8am on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.  Violators will be ticketed.
Non-essential Town employees will be working remotely on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.  Non-Essential Town buildings will be closed to the public on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.  Staff Directory:  https://www.northandoverma.gov/directory.aspx

Residents are encouraged to limit travel when possible and use extra care if driving is necessary. Please continue to give plow operators plenty of space and avoid passing or following too closely so they can safely do their work.

The North Andover Fire Department is asking residents to help by clearing snow away from nearby fire hydrants to ensure they are accessible in the event of an emergency.

The Select Board meeting will be held virtually tonight at 7pm, there will be no in person attendance.  Members of the public who wish to watch the meeting may do so by tuning in to Comcast Channel 8 or Verizon Channel 26 or online at northandovercam.org.

The North Andover Fire Department is asking residents for assistance in shoveling out local hydrants in their neighborhood, any help would be appreciated.

Trash/Recycling Update: Week of January 26, 2026

Due to forecasted weather conditions, Trash and Recycling has been postponed by one day.  As an example Monday’s routes will be picked up on Tuesday.  Friday’s route will be picked up on Saturday.  Please have your bags/barrels and if your residence is a red week – the recycling toter out before 7:00 am on your delayed day.  DPW Trash and Recycling will advise of any updates.

Storm Preparation

Residents and Businesses of North Andover: 


There is a significant storm in the forecast for Sunday into Monday, predicted to bring frigid temperatures and significant snowfall.  These conditions increase the potential for power outages and tree damage. If you experience a power outage, contact National Grid immediately so that crews can be dispatched.

If you need non-emergency assistance due to power outages and/or cold, please call the police business line at (978) 683-3168.

If we receive the projected snow totals that are currently in the weather models;

  • Crews and equipment are ready to go once the snow starts.
  • We ask that you limit vehicles on the road while plowing operations are ongoing.
  • Anticipate parking ban on Sunday, Monday and into Tuesday
  • There will be high potential for Trash and Recycling delay on Monday

  • Stay away from all downlines even if power is off,

  • With the coming storm, the North Andover Fire Department asks residents and business owners to keep fire hydrants in mind when clearing snow. Having clear access to a hydrant at a building fire is an essential part of their ability to extinguish a fire quickly. Please clear your nearest fire hydrant to keep you and your neighbors safe!

Water Main Valve Replacement – Hillside Road

The DPW will be replacing a water main valve on Hillside Rd starting at 7 PM this evening.  Thruway traffic on Hillside Rd will be blocked from Chestnut St to Turnpike St.
