Message from the North Andover Fire Department, July 28, 2025
For Immediate Release
July 28, 2025
On Monday, July 28, at 8:35 a.m., a utility contractor excavating at the intersection of Main Street and Tavern Road struck a high-pressure natural gas line. North Andover Fire Engine 1 and Car 1 responded to the scene, working with North Andover Police detail officers to suspend vehicle and pedestrian traffic in the area.
Surrounding homes were checked for gas, and residents were notified to remain inside, keeping windows and doors shut. Eversource Gas also responded to assess and monitor the damage while crews worked to shut down the leak.
Main Street will reopen to traffic while permanent repairs to the damaged line are made.
At this time, there is no threat to the public, and technicians will continue to monitor any residual gas.
