North Andover Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Survey

The Town of North Andover Select Board has as one of its Fiscal Year 2024 goals, to explore the feasibility of introducing the option for residents to create Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) on their properties.  The purpose of this survey is to gain public feedback about ADUs.

An accessory dwelling unit (ADU) is an independent residential living area that is on the same property as a larger, primary dwelling. ADUs are flexible little homes that can help meet the variety of living arrangements our lives may demand. They can house family, friends, or be income generating rental units. There are two types of accessory dwelling units: attached and detached. Attached ADUs are typically additions to single family homes or renovations of existing space within the home. Detached ADUs are typically converted garages or accessory structures that previously existed on the property.

Latest Green Communities Project Completed!

The Town recently completed another Green Communities project, which included replacing inefficient lighting fixtures with new LED fixtures at North Andover High School as well as weatherization measures at the elementary schools, the high school, and North Andover Town Hall. The Green Communities Division of the Department of Energy Resources provided the Town with a grant for $130,003 to complete these projects.  This, along with incentives from Eversource and National Grid, allowed us to complete the projects with no cost to the Town.
