Please be advised, there is a water main break on Rt. 125 in-between East Water St and Pleasant St. The DPW is aware and working on a solution.  The time frame for the repair is unknown.

What's New?

  • This summer, through August 2026, the contractor anticipates the following construction and site preparation activities along the Route 114 project corridor:
    • Excavation and grading will take place for the future shared-use path between the Andover Bypass and Willow Street, beginning as early as Monday, July 27, and continuing through August.
      • Work is anticipated to start at the Andover Bypass and progress east towards Willow Street.
    • Utility work is expected to continue in the project corridor, including, but not limited to, the following activities:
      • Saw cutting of roadway surfaces to support utility installation
      • Installation of water insertion valves
      • Utility pole relocation
      • Gas utility relocation, beginning in late August.
    • Route 114 center median removal and temporary paving at intersections throughout the corridor are expected to continue through September. Temporary traffic control devices will be placed in lieu of the median.
    • Continued site preparation activities at properties slated for demolition at the intersection of Route 114 and Hillside Road in North Andover, including installation of temporary construction fencing and related preparation work at 582, 591, 599, and 607 Turnpike Street. Demolition activities are expected to begin this summer.
    • Installation and maintenance of erosion control, sediment control, and stormwater protection measures in advance of and alongside upcoming work activities.
    • Test pitting (soil sampling and utility investigation) at various locations on Route 114 throughout the corridor are anticipated to continue through September.
    • Material deliveries will occur to project work sites and active work zones.

When is this Work Happening?

  • Work activities are scheduled on weekdays, Monday – Friday, during the summer construction season.
  • Work hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

How Will this Affect You? 

  • Lane shifts, traffic control devices, and police details may be required on Route 114 in the project limits to support these activities for public and worker safety.
  • Construction signage will remain in place and may be adjusted as needed to support shifting work areas and maintain safe travel through the corridor.
  • Access for pedestrians and emergency services will be maintained.
  • Drivers traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.

– Mosquito Spraying, July 2026
The Northeast Massachusetts Mosquito Control and Wetlands Management District is conducting an application to control adult mosquitoes on July 27, 2026, in the evening between the hours of 8:45 pm and 12 am. In case of inclement weather, the backup date of application would be July 28, 2026. The areas to be treated are the North Andover High & Middle School, Atkinson School, Brooks School, Kittredge School, Franklin School, Sargent School, Drummond Field, Grogan Field, Carl Thomas Playground, Aplin Playground, McEvoy Field, Reynolds Playground, Gallagher Field, Cyr Rec Area, Foster Farm Fields, Carter Fields, Ann Bradstreet ECC, Old Town Common, Thomson Elementary, and Patriot Memorial Field.  Learn more here:  https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-3rNdZH7hApmbmLvpe3qlwSA4w5LMio2/view?usp=sharing
– Annual Roads and Sidewalk Restoration Program Update
As you may already be aware, the following roads are part of the Annual Roads and Sidewalk Restoration Program and are scheduled for paving, weather permitting, beginning Sunday, July 19th:

Salem Street: Leanne Drive to Johnson Street
Johnson Street: Salem Street to Andover Street
Andover Street: Johnson Street to Dufton CourtThis work is scheduled to take place OVERNIGHT. Expected work hours are from 7:30 PM to 5:30 AM

Traffic delays, detours and raised castings should be expected if travelling within these areas. A town representative will be on site during construction. We appreciate your understanding. For any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to the engineering department. Thank you.
