In a ceremony on March 6, 2024, Chief Charles Gray of the North Andover Police Department received the Patriot Award, which recognizes organizational leaders who provide support to National Guard or Reserve members. The award, which is given by the Employer Support of The Guard and Reserve, is given after an employee who serves in the National Guard or Reserve nominates their supervisor for the support provided directly to the service member and their family.
Staff Sergeant Adrian Cuevas, who serves as a North Andover Police Officer, stated during the ceremony that he nominated Chief Gray based on the strong support the Chief showed to him and his family during his deployments.
Cuevas, who attended the ceremony with his wife, noted during his remarks that having the Chief’s commitment and support during those times made it easier for him during his deployments.
“I’m so proud to work with Chief Gray,” said Town Manager Melissa Rodrigues. “He has shown great leadership through his support of our employees that are serving the country, including advocating for them to receive important benefits and protections.”
Select Board members, Police Officers and Town Staff gathered in the Town Hall atrium to congratulate Chief Gray on this honor.
