For immediate release

This week the North Andover Select Board accepted a donation of $225,000 from Merrimack College during a Select Board meeting.

The donation, which was presented by Merrimack College Associate Vice President of Government, External Affairs and Institutional Projects Anthony Preston, will be used to purchase equipment, including cameras, for the North Andover Police Department and for capital needs and capital improvements at the North Andover Fire Department.

“This has been a difficult budget year,” said Select Board Chair Brian Roache.  “Merrimack College is a valued member of our community and we are thankful to them for recognizing the needs of the Town and for providing resources to help us meet those needs.”

“Merrimack College takes great pride in being part of and supporting the North Andover community,” said Preston. “This donation represents our commitment to continue to foster a friendly and collaborative partnership.”

“The Town of North Andover is proud to partner with Merrimack College and looks forward to our continued collaboration,” said Police Chief Charles Gray.

“The Town and the College often work cooperatively on issues,”  said Chief Fire John Weir.  “Donations like these help the Town to maintain its facilities and equipment and to improve operations.”
